Granma’s facelift fund!
The BEN is a not-for-profit organisation providing opportunities for young disadvantaged people in the community. Our work enables local youths to achieve equality, inclusive education and life-long skills for employability. We currently have many ideas and methods for supporting young people through our programmes and initiatives and through our work and research we have learned what the outcomes and impacts of barriers to learning are to young people and the community as a whole.
We work with schools, community, government and partners to attract and nurture disengaged and hard to reach individuals and groups.
Many of our programmes are delivered off school grounds from our wonderful space at Granma’s Refuge in Ingleside, a beautiful historical site – now training facility that we are lucky to have.
Why
There is a strong correlation between the motivations for young people to participate in the programmes that we offer and the environment that we offer them in – better student experiences are achieved in hands-on, experiential learning environments and we believe that this practical component is an integral aspect of our holistic approach to learning. What
We are seeking support from the community to raise funds for the installation of a multi-purpose all-weather court at Granma’s. All money raised will go directly into the excavation, concreting and preparation of the court space.
Benefits
We believe the installation of a multi-purpose half-court will enhance the growth and development of the local community and it’s young people.
We believe the installation of the multi-use court will benefit The BEN, it’s students, future students and the community in the following ways:
- There is a strong link between physical and mental health
- There is a strong link between engagement and experiential and fun learning
- There is a strong link between group and collaboration work with teaching kids to interact with each other and building self-esteem
- During down times students can break free and use the court for recreation and relaxation and provide a wonderful outlet in a safe environment
- We believe having a multi-use court will attract more students and extend our reach out into the community. Donate today!

To excavate, concrete and prepare a court space we will need $78,000, if you would like to contribute a gift of support and investment into the BEN please consider donating.
We have been working behind the scenes to secure funding and we are now asking you for financial and in-kind support to get the job done.
The best way you can help us is of course financial contributions but we will need help of volunteers and supplies as well as people spreading the message of the great work that we do and why this project is worthwhile so please share widely.
We all know the link between physical activity and mental health a space like this will be a wonderful engagement tool and would be such significant step in the growth of The BEN.
