Our focus for this year’s
Annual Christmas Appeal: helping students overcome financial obstacles to participating in group activities during the summer holidays.

BAM (Bring a Mate)
Have you heard of BAM (Bring a Mate)? BAM is a sports focused engagement program offering free, coordinated sports activities for youth across Northern Sydney, encouraging better mental health through enjoying time with mates in positive ways.
We are hoping to launch BAM in early 2020 and for it, the boys will need sports equipment (either bought for them or money to buy some), money for court fees, BBQs drinks.
Can you help?
We think this is an amazing initiative and one that our students will get a lot out of.

Many of the students we work with find January particularly isolating and difficult. While their peers are off having family holidays either at home or away – a holiday or even a fun activity of any sort that involves money is simply out of reach for them.
So what are we asking for? We would like to try to raise $5000 this year to plan group activities for kids who might otherwise miss out – and let’s face it – might be up to mischief if left to their own devices and boredom.
We recognise that improving young people’s lives is not just about what happens in the classroom but what happens socially, in their neighbourhood and communities – with or without their peers and family.
A few fun and engaging activities will go a long way to boost our kids so they don’t just survive but thrive.
We know many families cannot afford family holidays and sometimes the feeling of missing out and the fear of inadequacy is stifling. We’re not able to fill that void completely and we know that kids don’t need lavish holidays to feel a sense of worth. We simply want to create the goodness of a holiday with lasting memories from a fun day with friends.

Our aim is to:
Create magic with a trip to the beach, a hike to the nearby park, museum, movies, fun park, mini-golf, a favourite pizza place, a BBQ and letting them be silly and spontaneous. There are so many reasons to provide these experiences and so many reasons for us all to care. We are investing in kids who might one day change the world!
How can you help?
In the lead up to Christmas would you be willing to donate a small amount to help us create positive holiday memories for our kids who would otherwise miss out? Would you be willing to make a one off donation? Or perhaps you might like to organise your giving through workplace giving? You might even like to do something crazy and aim high for our youth? Whatever way you do it, we would be so thankful if you could help make a difference this Christmas. And if you would like to sign up for regular monthly giving you could always do that too.
Please share our campaign on social media, or send the link to your friends and family. Are you in?
Thank you to Hornsby Chamber of Commerce who have donated $250 towards our Christmas fundraising campaign – we are delighted to have your support!

How much would it cost to take kids on some fun recreational activities during the holidays?
Help give local kids a summer they deserve!
And know that you’ve made a difference to how someone remembers their childhood…
