We have a few prerequisites for the dogs that take part in our Canine Assisted Learning program. Generally the dog must have the physical and emotional maturity to take part and agreeable to participate in the program.
Here are a few key traits that we are looking for, shown by Abi our CAL Coordinator:
- Sociable - love people and like other dogs
- Handle exuberant affection - extroverted, confident and willing to take part in activities with young people
- Basic obedience - such as walking on a leash, laying, sitting and staying
- Gentle - accept treats gently
Remember we are not looking for perfection, just personality and potential! To see if your dog is suitable take a look at the videos below!
